This weekend I had a first. I went to a meeting of a book club or as my sweet hubby called it "dork club". I was very excited to go, as I left my brother, husband and 2 best friends sitting on the couch watching football to go on a Saturday afternoon. Excitement?? dedication?? I think so!
This is the book we were discussing. If you haven't read it, I absolutely recommend it, regardless of your beliefs. I have really changed my outlook on life and death since reading this book. Discussion on this book is a blog post itself which I will save for another day because I am here to talk about book club.
My sweet friend K was kind enough to invite to join book club and I am very grateful. There were 8 other ladies. I only knew K and one of her friends. I thought not knowing everyone might keep me from participating in the book discussion, but those of you who know me..........well, we all know that would never happen. Shy?? Who's shy?? Not me! It was so interesting to hear different points of view and the different expectations everyone before reading the book. I think most of all I enjoyed the fact that such a controversial issue (Heaven, religion, God, etc.) could be discussed very pleasantly without a heated discussion (you know most times people talk about religion and politics things normally get heated) and there not be a wrong or right answer. I guess as you can see, I really enjoyed myself and am super excited that I am welcomed back (I really hope I didn't assume that I was). I can't wait to read the next book. Call me a dork, I don't care.
In other news, my big brother came to visit for a long weekend. I can't tell you how much fun we had with him. I haven't had fun with him like that in a while, normally we don't have enough time. I am so thankful to have such an awesome big brother! Here's a few pictures we took at the Panther's game on Sunday.
